At Antoinette Hamilton Aesthetics, we pride ourselves on natural results. With an expert eye to produce natural results that enhance the way you look, but not change. We also appreciate that every face is different and therefore no two treatments are the same...
Many of our patients voice their concerns surrounding the potential for aesthetic treatments to leave them looking 'done' or fake. Given the surge in popularity of aesthetic treatments (and practitioners claiming to be fully qualified to administer them) in recent years, we aren't surprised by these concerns. Why? Well, while fillers administered by an experienced practitioner can offer excellent outcomes, poorly placed fillers just don't provide the natural, fresh-faced results that clients are looking for.
This is particularly true when it comes to dermal fillers... filler has got a bad reputation as only poor work is noticed, while good work goes undetected - as it should!

The Risk of Overdoing Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are designed to restore lost volume and rejuvenate the skin, making them a popular treatment option for those wanting to enhance their lips, refine their cheekbones or jawline, and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Overfilling is one of the biggest problems when it comes to dermal fillers and is often the reason why someone might look fake or 'done' following treatment. Overfilling can result in a number of different consequences, including 'duck lips' or a 'pillow face', prolonged swelling, and the immobilisation of facial muscles which can make it difficult to convey your emotions in a natural way.
But the good news is that there are a number of steps that you can take before in order to achieve a natural looking outcome from the right aesthetic treatment for your needs.
1. Find an Experienced, Qualified Practitioner
Experienced and qualified practitioners have an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy and know how different aesthetic treatments will interact with the skin and tissues on different parts of the face and body. Additionally, experienced practitioners also recognise that aesthetic treatments work best when they are used to enhance your natural features, ensuring that you still look like yourself.
As skilled practitioners use their knowledge to recommend specific treatments and ensure they are placed where they will provide the best possible outcomes, it is important to seek out a practitioner you trust and feel comfortable with.
2. Create a Bespoke Treatment Plan and Start Small
The best aesthetic practitioners create a bespoke treatment plan for every client, which involves analysing your unique features and understanding your goals. While we understand the desire to achieve your desired outcomes as quickly as possible, it is always beneficial to start small as this provides us with the opportunity to accurately assess the results of each individual treatment. Adopting a less is more approach also allows us to ensure that your results look natural and are easier to maintain over the long term.
Whether you decide that you are happy with your results after a single treatment or you want to build-up to a more noticeable outcome, a gradual approach is always recommended to avoid that 'overdone' look.
3. Post-Treatment Care
As experienced practitioners, we provide extensive post-treatment care designed to aid recovery and obtain the best possible results. This process also provides opportunities to discuss how to maintain your results for a lasting fresh-faced complexion.
To discuss your treatment options and put you at ease before any injections take place, we encourage you to book a consultation in clinic where we can assess your areas of concern and recommend a suitable treatment plan.
